Trans Finishes
Our trans finishing process begins in the wood shop where wood is selected for its combination of beauty, weight, and tone. This is a crucial step in the process because our trans finishes are designed to enhance the natural beauty of a piece of wood. After the body is cut and sanded, the top is stained to bring out the figuring of the wood. Once the undercoat is applied, the body will receive any additional color and burst (if applicable). As the final finish stage, a topcoat of thin polyester or “thin skin” urethane is applied, sanded, and buffed to a flawless, glossy finish.

Non-Figured Trans
Trans finish is applied over non-figured body wood so that the grain pattern is visible through the finish. Color is applied in one stage after the body has been cut, sanded and undercoated. Next, bursts are applied by hand (when applicable). As the final finish stage, a topcoat of thin polyester or “thin skin” urethane is applied, sanded, and buffed to a flawless, glossy finish.
