As we get closer to the launch date of the Suhr Aura single cut guitar, we would like to tell you a little more about the finishing process and available colors. In our next article, we will be listing the dealers who are participating in the 100 piece limited edition. Until then, we hope you enjoy the photos!
Ultra-thin Urethane Finish
Why do we believe urethane is the right finish for Aura? Urethane can be sprayed ultra-thin, is not susceptible to finish checking due to temperature fluctuations and it buffs to a crystal clear high-gloss shine.
Tinted Binding
We paid very close attention to the binding color and felt it should tie the entire design of the guitar together. To achieve this, we painstakingly mask and tint the binding during the paint process. It is a time consuming process, and we love the results.

Hi, Given how quickly these sold out at NAMM and how well received it was in the market place, do you guys plan to do a pro line version of this? It is well worth the asking price, but I think a majority of us would not be able to comfortably swing $7,000 on a guitar. I think Suhr has an unique opportunity to capture a large chunk of the single cut market due to the inconsistent quality control and the financial situation of Gibson.
Thank you.
We are looking at all the options, John. Thanks for your input and interest.
These guitars are beautiful.
Hello my name is Filipe and I live in Portugal. What is the price of Aura gold top plus shipping charges?
Hi, Filipe. In our next article we will be publishing a list of dealers participating in the limited edition Aura, so stay tuned!
Wait a minute, are you saying the Aura models are just a one-off? It won’t be part of your catalog guitars? Mr. Suhr, perhaps you should consider offering the Aura model as an addition to your line of products. You see, some of us are looking for an alternative of the LP model. There is a lot of uncertainty with the future of the Gibson Co and the quality of the beloved L.P. Unfortunately such a classic guitar has many flaws. Finally someone has address those issues and you offer the community a guitar well made, with no tuning problems when bending strings, a strong neck, and a great variety of finish options. My favorite is the Gold. I vote for a permanent Aura models from this point on!!!
No, not exactly. We are just saying that for the first year we are focused on making 100 in this particular configuration. We hope this helps!
Beautiful Guitars from Suhr. Dare i ask the question is the idea of a double cut away 335 copy ever going to be on the cards? I hope to buy one of this single cuts when they are available next also 🙂
I’ve seen some of these available for pre-order on various sites – are they released yet? I haven’t seen a formal post about it. I don’t want to miss out on securing a Tea Burst, they’re just gorgeous.
Please please please make a pro version!!
I hope there the Aura will can have a 60s neck profile option soon. I’ve been using my Custom Modern for several years now and have grown accustomed to its slimmer neck profile. It’ll definitely be a dream come true for me to own an Aura with all the tone and sustain that it can give but with the extreme neck playability of the Standard/Modern.
Yep, me too. Thin rounded lie the ROG0 vs flat like the 60’s classic please. Sculpted for better access to the upper frets too. Or at least an option to get this done. Then I’ll take mine in the Tea Burst 🙂 Looking forward to this becoming a reality.
I can’t afford one of the first 100 but if they go into production after that I’m in
I’m definitely interested in a lower cost version ($7K is tough to swing)!!!!
I sure would be interested in one if they ever become regular production models,I would however would also like to see with this model having “Vintage”style frets,as opposed to the standard Jumbo type.
Hi guys! I came here because I saw Doug Aldrich play one kind of LP type guitar.
And for sure, was a Surh. Beautiful! Well done.
I hope to see this models in a more affordable price…
Hello. Has anyone actually got Suhr AURA in their hands? It’s now October, and I’m wondering whether I missed the chance or it’s right around the corner.
I tried one at cosmo music, it’s actually the exact gold top from the wildwood namm video, the guitar plays great and the thornbuckers combined with the wood sounds heavenly.
